NUMA Update- Surveillance Screening and Vaccine Distribution

With phase 3 student attendance beginning shortly, we are all looking at ways to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our buildings. To that end, the district will be offering staff and secondary level students weekly COVID surveillance screenings, conducted by Safeguard Surveillance, LLC. This is an opt-in program designed to help identify asymptomatic carriers of the virus and to aid in contact tracing with the goal of minimizing transmission of COVID-19 in our buildings.

I encourage you to look over the information provided Here and to participate in this program. In my view, it has the potential to be an effective mitigation strategy, but only works with your participation. These are not mandatory screenings, there is no penalty for not participating, but the benefits to you, your families and our community could be substantial.

If you have any questions or concerns about this program, please contact me directly at kbee1@naperville203.org or kbeenuma@gmail.com

Additionally, many of you are already aware that as frontline essential workers and education employees, we will be given the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in phase 1(b) of the distribution plan. You will be receiving more information on this in the coming days and weeks, but we would like to gauge the level of interest among NUMA members in receiving the vaccine so that the district can more accurately report the number of doses needed to the Dupage County Health Department.

You may be contacted by the county directly, or by the county you live in if you are not a resident of Dupage County. If you have the opportunity to receive the vaccine at any point, and you wish to do so, you should take it. You can go to the Dupage County Health Department’s website to sign up for notifications about the vaccine Here

Please take a few seconds to fill out this survey so that we can better gauge member interest and involvement in the vaccine distribution. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/D3QLWHH
